Kintore College is more than your average residence.

Spiritual activities at Kintore are entrusted to the Prelature of Opus Dei, an institution of the Roman Catholic Church. www.opusdei.ca

Kintore College is more than just your home away from home. Kintore offers programs that enrich students' success and learning. These include:

  • a mentoring program

  • lectures by renowned guest speakers

  • cultural events such as international nights

  • volunteering opportunities

We are dedicated to making this a residence that truly enriches the university experience of every student.  As such, we take great care in selecting residents from a pool of applicants each year.

We accept applications from students enrolled at the University of Toronto St. George (U of T downtown) Campus, Ryerson University, OCAD University, George Brown College, and other post-secondary institutions.

Kintore adheres to Prom-Edu-Val Society’s safety policy.

History of Kintore

Look to the Stars, or Respice Stellam in Latin, is a reminder to aim high, to dare to dream. This phrase echoes the story of Kintore College.

A figment of our imagination in 2003, it blossomed into a 4-storey building embedded in an upscale, modern 16-storey condominium in the heart of downtown Toronto. A dream, almost 10 years in the making, pushed forward through hardwork, prayers and faith. Working in close collaboration with Yann Weymouth, an architect of Paris’ Louvre Museum, the idea became a reality brick by brick.  Each detail of the building was carefully crafted with the idea of you, the future residents, in mind.

In October 2012, we were proud to open its doors to students, like you, who also dare to look to the stars. In this home away from home, you too can chase your dreams.

Contribute

Kintore College is a private, non-profit student residence. The building was funded and built by Promotion of Education and Values (PEV), a non-profit organization that aims to help women in all levels of society.

Other educational initiatives such as WEEKdays and SMILES program are also funded by the same non-profit organization.

If you would like to make a contribution to PEV to support any of their initiatives above, please contact us or click here to set up a one-time or monthly contribution.

Thank you for your generosity!

Volunteer Opportunities

Kintore College shares its building with some non-profit initiatives serving the Toronto area. Here we feature some of the amazing volunteer and work opportunities open to university students and the residents of Kintore College.

WEEKdays Tutoring

Women Encouraging Excellence in Kids offers an after-shool tutorial program on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the school year which runs through Kintore. This is a free, one-on-on tutoring program aimed to assist high school girls. High school students are paired with university students based on the subject areas that the student requests assistance in.

WEEKdays is continually seeking more volunteers to tutor high school students in math, English, and science.

If you are interested in volunteering or applying, contact the WEEKdays coordinator.
Email weekdays@kintorecollege.ca or call 416-944-8323.

Visit the WEEKdays website for more information.

SMILES Program

The SMILES Program is an initiative that aims to help disabled children learn essential skills that will enable them to live on their own and/or to gain employment.

The high school students who participate in this program, together with their Special Education teachers, come to Kintore once a week to practice some of these essential life skills: preparing a snack, cleaning floors, doing small repairs, organizing paper, etc. They usually practice in the basement area near the large conference room and do not interfere with the residents upstairs.

Community Outreach

Two community outreach efforts we currently partake in include visits to the residents of the Rekai Long-Term Care Facility & volunteer sandwich-making/distribution with the Miller Group at St. Basil's Parish.

These efforts provide us the opportunity to engage with the local community and share our time and talents with those who could benefit from them the most.
